How AI-Powered Verification Works

Referentia uses advanced AI to intelligently extract references from any type of scientific paper PDF, finds their URLs, and compares the actual live titles with the titles cited in your paper. This helps identify outdated links, title mismatches, and inaccessible sources.

Data Processing & Privacy

Your PDF is processed using Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Preview (via OpenRouter) to extract and verify references. Based on Google's privacy policy:

  • Human Review: Google uses human reviewers to improve AI. Data is disconnected from accounts before review.
  • Storage: No permanent storage on our servers. Google may retain data up to 72 hours (or longer if Gemini Activity is enabled).
  • Processing: Data sent to Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Preview via OpenRouter for text extraction only.
  • Confidential Data: Google advises against entering confidential information you wouldn't want reviewers to see.
